'NotifyWifi' Adds a Number of Features to the Wi-Fi Functionality of Your iOS Device
With a new jailbreak tweak in Cydia called NotifyWifi
by iOS developer ichitaso, you can add a number of features to your iOS device's Wi-Fi functionality.
As the name implies, the tweak will notify you of changes to your Wi-Fi. Each time you change to a new Wi-Fi network, you will get a notification letting you know the name of the Wi-Fi network you have connected to. This is great just in case you automatically connect to a network that you donít want to be on, because you will see it and be able to correct it. The tweak integrates with Notification Center, as well as banners to alert you of changes. You can tap on any notification from NotifyWifi to bring yourself to the Wi-Fi preferences in the Settings application.
In addition, each time you connect to a Wi-Fi network, the SSID is automatically copied to the clipboard. This makes it easy for the user to take advantage of another one of the tweak's features... a whitelist and blacklist. You will find these lists in the tweak's preferences pane from the Settings application:
All Wi-Fi networks that are added to the whitelist will not notify you when you connect to them. These are the Wi-Fi networks that you use all the time that you already know you will be connecting to and donít need to be notified about. The blacklist is the exact opposite. When you connect to a Wi-Fi network that you donít want to be on, your Wi-Fi will be turned off automatically to protect your privacy (such as connecting to those public Wi-Fi hotspots at McDonalds).
NotifyWifi integrates with SBSettings and NCSettings to let you toggle the feature on or off on demand, but you will also be able to do this from he NotifyWifi preferences pane in the Settings application if you donít use either of the above.
The developer put together a small demonstration video of each of the tweak's features that you can view below:
