  • Report: Apple Planning TV Announcement for November

On the heels of Apple's recent acquisition of Matcha, everyone in the tech space is gearing up to report something from Apple with regard to its future pans for the living room. Whether it's as simple as an Apple TV refresh or something more elaborate - like the connected HD iTV we keep hearing about - the pressure is on Apple to dazzle us. And soon.

To that end, a new report surfacing Friday suggests that a major announcement from Apple that is somehow pertinent to a television project may come in November. That information comes to us by way of a former Tech Crunch reporter who is now a venture capitalist.

    According to MG Siegler:

The latest things like I've heard are some sort of television product not necessarily a television screen but something could be coming as soon as this November. And I think there's some surprises there about what it could actually be and I don't for sure what it could actually be but there's been whispers about, so I'm not going to write anything about it, but there's whispers out there that the interaction with it could be the interesting thing. People have talked about voice, but I think that's out the window and there might be some new way to interact with whatever this thing is.
Although specifics would have been nice, just hearing that something is actually on the horizon for as early as November is apparently enough to excite some investors. It should be noted that shares of AAPL climbed above the critical $500 on Wednesday and are still there as of Friday afternoon.

If you have a "CrappleTv" (you are so creative) why not sell it can get something you like? There are many other options out there.

It will probably be gesture based. Either using some sort of camera on the device or maybe your iPhone or iPad to control it. I don't know many that use Siri for much. Not to mention talking takes more effort and thought than moving your hands. Patience I guess..would be nice to see something come of it.

Why post on an apple forum if you're going to troll?

If Apple just makes a Cable box for all internet media I'm happy and will buy 2 on pre-order. If they do something special I'll be even happier let alone adding some solid gaming potential with a standardized controller.

It's not that it's difficult to go to each website but rather I have no idea what I actually have access to without a lot of digging... on each site... in different ways... with different menus... different queues...

Watching TV online is far from simple.

Apple has been in talks with Time Warner. The other issue with Internet TV is well, you still need an internet connection which for a lot of people isn't feasible with enough bandwidth.

Apple would only make a cable box if they could profit from it and lock you into the Apple eco system

Think its going to be ATV 4 with an App store
