  • Primate Labs Announces the Release of Geekbench 3


    Primate Labs have Friday announced the release of Geekbench 3, the third generation of the popular benchmarking software used on multiple platforms to test the limits of machines like smartphones, laptops, desktops, and even tablets. The update brings the application several new features, as well as changes to the look of the user interface.

    Shown above is the Mac OS X version of Geekbench 3; the new interface can be identified by its use of flatter color designs. The software is available for Mac OS X, Windows, Linux, iOS, and Android. With today's update, all of these platforms get the take advantage of the new user interface and the new features.

    The new features in Friday's update include 15 all-new benchmark tests, 12 re-written benchmark tests from Geekbench 2, an all-new scoring system that lets you see your computer's performance with one core or with multiple cores, and much more. The iOS version of Geekbench 3 gives the user new features like saving benchmark results automatically so users can go back and see preview results and Dropbox integration so you can share your results across devices.

    The update is significant for anyone that likes comparing the power of one device to the power of the next.       Only problem I have with Geekbench or any computer benchmark test is that I stiil don't know hw much difference the scores , or comparartive scores make in real life.
      What we need is 'Control Files' on a website for download. Then we could download a royalty free movie, check that test settings are the same and compare encode speeds in Handbrake or similar.
