  • How to Hide the Percent Sign From the Battery Percent Indicator in the Status Bar

The battery percentage indicator can be enabled or disabled outright from the Settings application in iOS. Many prefer to see the numeric amount of battery level that’s remaining, so it's common for the feature to end up being enabled by the user. On the other hand, because of the limited amount of space in the Status Bar, it's good to minimize the amount of items that appear in the Status Bar at one time.

A new free jailbreak tweak called No Percent Sign by iOS developer iLendSoft will hide the percent sign from the battery percentage indicator in the Status Bar so that all you see is the battery icon with a number next to it, as shown above.

No Percent Sign gives the user the best of both worlds by eliminating this unnecessary character and creating more empty space; however, the user will still get the benefit of seeing their battery percentage in the Status Bar. By taking up less space the Status Bar feels cleaner and less cluttered.

The tweak doesn't have any options to configure. If you want to give No Percent Sign a try, you can download the tweak for free right now in Cydia's BigBoss repository.

I tried this but wound up having a single '7' in the status bar instead of 74%. Will try it again when it is finished baking.

Since it can not be themed I've hidden the % displayed & symbol. Seems like less clutter & more room for other SB icons IMO

it would be better to hide the battery image and have the numbers and percent symbol

      hmm Bolt comes to mind

I wish BatteryControl Premium would be updated. That was the best because you could set rules when to show the icon, percentage or both. For iOS 6+ I like Battery Peek. Uses activator to show the percentage for a few seconds. When charging or low it works as a toggle instead of a temp switch to keep the percentage shown until you turn it back off. I set activator to a tap on the right side of the status bar.

Easy enough to make a theme that hides the battery graphic. Just find the battery files and make them all a 1x1 transparent pixel. I'm not sure how Bolt does it, but if the percentages don't stay to the far right it's probably because the author just made the graphics transparent and didn't resize them at all.

like I said mine stay far right using Bolt, I suspect something is interfering with the other guys set up

yeah you could just do that, I'd recommend 1 x 40 px myself though as 40 px high is the size of the @2x statusbar:

      WhiteOnBlackEtch_BatteryCharged@2x.png = 42 x 40 px
      WhiteOnBlackEtch_BatteryCharging@2x.png = 42 x 40 px
      WhiteOnBlackEtch_BatteryDrainingBG@2x.png = 42 x 40 px
      WhiteOnBlackEtch_BatteryDrainingInsides@2x.png = 6 x 40 px
      WhiteOnBlackEtch_BatteryDrainingInsidesLow@2x.png = 6 x 40 px

      WhiteOnBlackShadow_BatteryCharged@2x.png = 46 x 40 px
      WhiteOnBlackShadow_BatteryCharging@2x.png = 46 x 40 px
      WhiteOnBlackShadow_BatteryDrainingBG@2x.png = 46 x 40 px
      WhiteOnBlackShadow_BatteryDrainingInsides@2x.png = 10 x 40 px
      WhiteOnBlackShadow_BatteryDrainingInsidesLow@2x.pn g = 12 x 40 px

      they go in:

      Your.theme/UIImages

      or

      Your.theme/Bundles/com.apple.UIKit

It hasn't been update since iOS 4 or 3, can't remember exactly. Something about iOS changing the way it handles the battery readings and requiring a complete rewrite.

dev might have given up on it then, all that happened was Appl£ stopped using images and switched to a font for the numerical battery percentage

Why not just design the battery icon with the number inside it?

I think there is a tweak that makes your battery icon a circle with a number inside. Can't remember the name of it though.
