Apple Set to Unveil Next-Gen iPhone on September 10
According to the folks over at AllThingsD
, Apple is set to unveil its next iPhone on September 10, citing sources who claim to have knowledge of the event. Though the date of the announcement has been revealed, itís unclear whether the event will focus primarily on the upcoming iPhone 5S or if it will include Appleís rumored low cost iPhone.
For those of you who are unaware, the low-cost iPhone is aimed at emerging markets and is said to share quite a few similarities with the iPhone 5. Prototype photos and leaked parts have depicted a similar shape and size, though the phone is said to have rounded edges, a slightly thicker form factor, and a polycarbonate shell that is offered in various colors. The most recent rumors for said device have suggested a price tag of $490 for the device, which is in line with the iPhone 4 pricing when carrier subsidies are taken into account.
Appleís upcoming iPhone 5S is expected to feature a design similar to that of the iPhone 5 but with a number of improvements. It is also rumored to include a fingerprint sensor, an upgraded 12-megapixel camera with a dual-LED flash, and iOS 7. Itís likely that iOS 7 will make its public debut after the announcement or when the next-gen iPhone is released.
Though OS X Mavericks is scheduled to be released in the fall as well, AllThingsD doesnít expect the software to be debuted at the September 10 event.
