  • Bob Mansfield Continues to Work on Future Projects but is No Longer on Apple Exec Team

Until Sunday, Bob Mansfield was listed as Apple’s Senior President of Technologies, but there appear to be some changes made to the role leaving Mansfield no longer a part of Apple’s leadership, although he hasn’t left the company either. Steve Dowling provided the following statement regarding the situation to John Paczkowski of AllThingsD:

“Bob is no longer going to be on Apple’s executive team, but will remain at Apple working on special projects reporting to Tim,” company spokesman Steve Dowling told AllThingsD. He declined any further explanation, refusing to comment on the reasons behind Mansfield’s abrupt demotion or whether Apple plans to appoint a new SVP of technologies.
Mansfield was originally set to retire the company in January of 2012 but ended up later returning as a personal request of Tim Cook. He stayed on to work on “future projects” and after a leadership shake-up; Mansfield was named the title he held up until recently (Senior Vice President of Technologies). As of right now, Mansfield is back where he was at before the shake-up. There hasn’t been word of what’s happening exactly but we’re sure it will surface in the near future.
