  • What's New In Cydia: MarkRead, BiteSMS 5, NoLockScreen

If you haven't done so already, check out our guides to jailbreak your iDevice! What are you waiting for? It's time to dig inside Cydia and see what's new this week, just be prepared for some slow updates, as Cydia has been extremely busy with traffic since Saturday's release of limera1n.

If you're new to jailbreaking, check out our previous "What's New" articles, covering new apps and updates in Cydia.

    Mark Read
    CocoaNuts

"Ever wake up with an inbox full of Facebook emails? Annoyed by newsletters you're not going to read anyway? Going through all of them just to get rid of the red badge just takes too much time. This is why we invented Mark Read, an easy way to mark either your entire inbox or just the emails you want as read/unread, right within Mail.app."

I couldn't have said it better myself. This is a tweak I have been looking/hoping Apple would add but it is quite clear that they have no plans to add this in iOS 4.2, so the folks of CocoaNuts (chpwn, petrich, and stephen) have developed Mark Read. Simply tap 'Edit' in your mailbox, then select the emails you want to mark off as read or unread and tap 'Mark' in the upper left corner. If you want to mark the entire mailbox as read/unread, tap 'Mark All'. It's that simple! Why Apple has not done this blows my mind.

Mark Read is available in Cydia for $1.99.

If you enjoy Mark Read, check out other CocoaNuts tweaks like YourTube 2,YourTube HD and Safari Download Manager

    BiteSMS 5
    BiteSMS 5.0

For those of you out there that have been using BiteSMS, you may have found that the current public release only semi-works on your iPhone 4. Well, here is the good news. There is a beta version available that works; you just need to add the repo to your sources.

UPDATE: Now Officially Available in Cydia

There are a bunch of cool features for the iPhone 4, including custom SMS tones per contact, flashing LED (i4), and auto-retry for sending SMS.

    BiteSMS is available for FREE!

    NoLockScreen
    Tom Zickel

Not really much to say about this tweak. The name says it all. This tweak will disable your lockscreen (the slide to unlock part). It's a pretty cool idea and I'm getting use to not having my lockscreen. I could dig this.

NoLockScreen is available in Cydia for FREE.

    More Updates in Cydia...

    Overboard
Overboard is an Éxpose-like App that allows you to view of all you pages quickly in one motion. Recently updated to version 1.2.3, Ryan has added a new wallpaper option, as well as hashed out a bug that was occuring with the Glaskart theme. OverBoard is available in Cydia for $1.00.

    InfiniBoard
Chpwn, has recently updated Infiniboard to version 1.5.3.-1 fixing all compatibility issues with FolderEnhancer. Available in Cydia for $1.99

    Activator
Mr. Petrich has updated Activator to version 1.4.6, correcting some minor bugs, including updated localizations.

Activator is available in Cydia for FREE.

    Warnings for iOS 4.1 users:

    Background svn.r558-1
WARNING: This version (svn.r558-1) is untested on iOS 4.1. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!

I figured it out version 4.99 is not compatible with 4.1. If u add this source to Cydia
      http://www.bitesms.com/cydia/beta5.0
U can download version 5.0. So far it's working for me on 4.1

"No Lockscreen" intrigued me enough to click on this link, and you just completely glossed over it. Why even "review" the app if you're not going to tell us anything about it?

Likewise, I had no interest in the other apps. I only came to the thread to try and find out more about the nolockscreen because it's brief description in Cydia wasn't very good. Oh well.

Refresh your sources and let all the package list download. I had that issue all u do is reboot your phone the launch Cydia and let refresh the sources and reload data before you do anything. Don't even let your phone go to sleep till it's done.

What more do you need to know?? It just doesn't show the slider and that is it. It does have an SBSettings toggle but that is all that comes with it.

      Had the same issue.

      Solved it this way:

      1) I just went back into Cydia
      2) and found the BiteSMS app in "packages"
      3) and pressed "modify"
      4) and "reinstall".

After springboard restart, works great! So far...

      Cheers

You should state that biteSMS is "free to try", not just FREE. It is a trial use.

Well, I've been using BiteSMS 5.0 beta without a hitch for about 3 days...On a side note: My3G was updated this morning to work with FaceTime again. I know there were some workarounds running around the web, but now it works like before.

Like a previous poster said.....bite sms is free.Free w/ ads or you pay for ad-free version.

from the bitesms site(When you install biteSMS you automatically get a free trial license for 15 days. Then, you can either buy a full license which does not expire, or instead buy credits which also include a license for 12 months. Or, if you don't want to pay anything at all, that's OK, we'll show you ads instead.)

Ok thanks for clarifying. I hope nothing will be limited when the trial ends. So far it has worked very well. Really all I want is a quick reply function for SMS. The app itself for me is not needed, but it comes with it and only works that way.

Mark Read sounds great. I always wondered why Apple never had something like this built it.
