SpotLight itself can be useful, but why not improve its usefulness? A new jailbreak tweak called SearchAmplius
by iOS developer EDA Tweaks can make it so you get more search results from more of your applications in SpotLight. This effectively improves the usefulness of SpotLight for just about anyone.
SearchAmplius adds search results to SpotLight for applications like Cydia, App Store, YouTube, Calculator, Weather, Stocks, Maps, and iTunes. This way, you’ll get more than just basic search results, but actually useful results as shown above. In addition, each search result includes a mini description under the title giving you some additional information about the search result, such as Cydia descriptions for packages, App Store app price and rating, Weather locations, and more.
Because some of these search results look for items that are on the Internet, it should be noted that an Internet connection would be required for search results from applications like Cydia, App Store, YouTube, and a few others.
From the tweak's preferences pane (labeled SearchLoader), you will be able to limit the amount of search results per application. You will also be able to choose what is hidden or shown in the SpotLight search results, which is great for when you don't really need search results from a specific application because then you can just disable it from the list:
SearchAmplius goes great with a new jailbreak tweak called SearchCollapse
because of the fact that it adds so many new search results to SpotLight. Buying SearchAmplius will get you a free copy of SearchCollapse in Cydia.
If you would like to give SearchAmplius a try, it is available in Cydia's BigBoss repository for $2.99. The tweak will require iOS 6.0 or later and will install SearchLoader as a dependency.
