  • Lawyer from Tennessee Sues Apple for Letting Him Access Porn on His Devices

Tennessee lawyer Chris Sevier is seeking damages for watching “women engaging in sexual acts with the intent to cause vicarious arousal” on his Apple devices – or in other words, one of the strangest lawsuits that has been filed against Apple. In his 50-page complaint, Sevier’s proposal claims that Apple should ship its devices in a “safe mode” that customers would have to take steps to disable if they wanted to be naughty. Sevier believes that it’s Apple’s responsibility to shift “the burden off of the buyers who do not want to see porn onto those who do want to see pornographic content to take the additional step.”

According to the folks at Above the Law:

Sevier’s complaint makes a simple request: Apple should sell all products with an installed filter blocking all Internet porn. If the buyer, over the age of 18, wishes to unlock the Internet, he or she is free to contact Apple, sign a form acknowledging the ills of pornography, and receive a code to remove the filter. Sevier argues that the burden must be shifted from parents to the manufacturer to sell a locked device. That sounds like a fair enough, even laudable goal. But Sevier also wants these filters installed lest the responsibility be up to *shudder* individuals exercising self-control.
The folks over at The Huffington Post pointed toward the following part of his complaint, which led him to file the complaint in the first place:

Per the complaint, Sevier’s problem began after he tried to visit “Facebook.com,” but — accidentally, he says — typed “F**kbook.com,” an adult site that “appealed to his biological sensibilities as a male and led to an unwanted addiction with adverse consequences.
As if it wasn’t strange enough, Sevier took it a step further claiming that the issue harmed his life by stating the following:

UNFAIR COMPETITION AND INTERFERENCE OF THE MARITAL CONTRACT: The Plaintiff became totally out of synch in his romantic relationship with his wife, which was a consequence of his use of his Apple product. The Plaintiff began desiring, younger more beautiful girls featured in porn videos than his wife, who was no longer 21.
Sevier has been placed on disability inactive status by the Tennessee Supreme Court in 2011, meaning that he can’t practice law until the court rules that he is fit to work again. For those of you who took the time to read part of his complaints, it’ll be quite obvious that he has some issues to deal with. In the meantime, it seems like just about everyone and anyone is filing lawsuits against Apple, the company which is already heavily involved in several lawsuits to begin with.

Regardless of if he searched or typed in the URL he had to try to go to f**kbook.com and then voluntarily stayed there.
