  • Greenpois0n To Be Released This Sunday!

That's right! The developers behind the newest jailbreak, greenpois0n, have informed the world of it's estimated arrival date of October 10th, 2010.

Developer Joshua Hill, aka p0sixninja, recently tweeted "Things have progressed to the point where we don't expect anymore roadblocks. ETA for greenpois0n is 10/10/10 at 10:10:10AM".

While it's important to remember that this is only an estimated release date and our friend chpwn puts it into decent perspective "Please note that an ETA is, by definition, an estimate. There may still be delays, although we will try for there not to be any." Chpwn has been working with Saurik on improving Cydia, but by the sounds of it, it will not be ready to be released alongside the greenpois0n release, but it will be something else to look forward to after jailbreaking.

It will be important to watch out for fakes in the meantime, and make sure that you follow us here for the release. The servers will more than likely take a huge hit, and hopefully we can arrange something like we did with jailbreakme.com to act as a mirror. Keep your eyes peeled.

While it is not confirmed yet, we are hoping to see an untethered jailbreak for every iDevice currently available, however don't be disappointed if its not yet untethered.

Get your iPods, iPhones, iPads and AppleTV ready for this sundays "funday".

    Sunday - greenpois0n - Be there. 10/10/10 10:10:10AM GMT

Edit Poseidon: This will only work on the iPhone 4, iPad and iPod Touch 4G. It does /not/ support any older devices as they do not contain the A4 chip that contains the exploit.

Secondly this is not an unlock and will not help those that have updated to 4.0.2 or 4.1.

The Dev Team don't accept donations. I'm not sure about Chronic Dev though. Check the blog maybe....

Wonder how this jailbreak is performed without an unlock for the 4.1 baseband. It could be just a jailbreak, if you need unlock then this jailbreak doesn't do you any good.

I believe the dev team said they are releasing an updated pwnage tool to allow updating to 4.1 without baseband update. Also people can use tiny umbrella to go to 4.1 and preserve baseband on iPhone 4.

Are you a 100% positive on that statement? I know this question has been the point of contention for the past week or so.

Chronicdevteam just said an unlock will most likely be done by the dev team not the chronic dev team as theyre not unlockers.

Where was this stated? I have not seen any mention f this from any first-person source. The only declarations that I recall are that it will jb the iPhone 4, iPad, iPT4, and the new AppleTV, but no mention of new bottom 3GS or older models.

I should correct myself on the donation statement. I don't know for sure if the chronic dev-team takes donations or not; from the twitter comments I've read, I don't think they do. I know the regular dev-team doesn't.

Here is the link from the dev-team's site.

If anyone knows if chronic does, let us know. I would be willing to donate something.
