An alert in iOS 7 noticed by German site ifun suggests that Apple’s iWork and iLife software suites for iOS may soon go free for users to download from the App Store. The alert, when translated from German to English, states:
For optimum Usage of the iPad, we recommend these free apps from Apple.
The “Hey we’re Apple check out the free applications we offer” alert isn’t new to iOS; it has been around even in older versions of iOS like iOS 6, but this is the first time we are seeing Apple’s premium applications in the alert, and more, in an alert meant to make users aware of Apple's free applications.
We aren’t sure yet if this is just some kind of glitch in iOS 7 beta, but it is rumored that Apple may make these premium applications free with the launch of iOS 7 this Fall. If this ends up to be true, users will be able to download software once worth about $45 completely free of charge.
