'Mappr' Lets You Explore the Map in Place of SpotLight
If you use the Maps application a lot, and really don’t use SpotLight much, then a new jailbreak tweak called Mappr
by iOS development team HASHBANG Productions might be of interest to you.
Mappr replaces the SpotLight page with an interactive map, just like the map that you would find in the Maps application if you were to open it. The tweak gives you quick access to a map when you need it, and best of all, makes that SpotLight page on the home screen useful without having to disable it outright.
Mappr adds a preferences pane to the Settings application so you can configure the map to your liking:
You will be able to enable or disable the tweak on demand, as well as choose to have the map follow your current location. If you choose not to have the map follow your location, the map can be interacted with without your location being the main focus of the map. You can also choose to have the map display in standard view, satellite view, or hybrid view.
Mappr may turn out useful for quick map reference in some cases, but the tweak is more of a proof of concept than anything. It's still pretty neat nonetheless. If you would like to give the tweak a try, it’s available in Cydia’s BigBoss repository for just 99˘.
