  • Apple Seeds iOS 7 Beta 2 to Developers

Apple recently released the second beta of iOS 7 for the iPhone to developers. The update arrives two weeks after the new mobile operating system was unveiled at WWDC 2013. Developers who are testing the software can download iOS 7 beta 2 through Software Update in the iPhone’s native Settings application. Apple has said the update contains bug fixes and improvements.

The Cupertino California company also warned users that the second beta “should only be deployed on devices dedicated for iOS 7 beta software development.” The prelease software isn’t intended for use among the general public.

Although the Settings icon has changed in iOS 7, the gears included still rotate while iOS 7 beta 2 is downloading.

For those of you who don’t know, Apple gave developers the first beta of iOS 7 two weeks ago at its annual Worldwide Developers Conference. This was also the first time in the world that the general public was able to see the major design overhaul made to the platform. When it comes to the exact changes made for iOS 7 beta 2, they have not yet been revealed. We’ll find out soon though as more users download and test this beta version.

I was on 6.1.4 and tried going to beta 2 with the shift click update trick. It didn't work for me and put my iPhone 5 in restore mode. I would use OTA update

Do you mean dev beta? And if so there is no such thing as a non dev beta. It is all the same thing, Apple just changed the way they are checking or not checking for registered UDID's.

I think he was meaning the iPhone 4 (GSM Rev A) Beta DL versus the iPhone 4 (GSM) / (CDMA) Betas

      Or I could be wrong...

The difference is Rev A is only for the 8GB model that was released when the 4s came out. And, it's only for GSM phones.

Yip as I noted specifically above (ex Apple Dev page) but I'm sure that's what he was asking about.

I have an iphone 5 AT&T running ios7 beta 2. Have had no problems or crashes. Only one thing is bothering me and I just want to know if it's only me or others also. My home screen wallpaper keeps disappearing. If I go into an app it comes back then it disappears again after a bit.

Only issue I seem to have right now is with iMessages all my iMessages are sent as text messages. Other than that everything seems snappier and faster and less buggy with this release.

Well tried doing my iPad 4 and so far I can't get past the initial "hello" screen before it freezes.

      -edit-

Fixed, I had to do a dfu restore back to 6.1.3 and then immediately do the 7.0 update.

I had that too and discovered that iMessage was turned off when I installed.

No prob! Only took me a week to figure out! The look of the new message system is very pleasing to the eye too. After it being the same since 2007, I'm glad they made a change.

Try resetting it. My wallpaper was off center after the update but I reset it and its fine now.

For me SMS got turned off and I don't get great service at home so I kept wondering why I was getting sending failures.

Only issue I've had since update was that after opening multitasking and touching back to where ever I opened it from, I can't open NC or Command Center until the home button is pressed again or the device is locked

Reset wallpaper still messing up. It seems that when you go to app switcher and close all apps and return to home screen is when I messes up.
