  • Apple Seeds iOS 7 Beta 2 to Developers

Apple recently released the second beta of iOS 7 for the iPhone to developers. The update arrives two weeks after the new mobile operating system was unveiled at WWDC 2013. Developers who are testing the software can download iOS 7 beta 2 through Software Update in the iPhone’s native Settings application. Apple has said the update contains bug fixes and improvements.

The Cupertino California company also warned users that the second beta “should only be deployed on devices dedicated for iOS 7 beta software development.” The prelease software isn’t intended for use among the general public.

Although the Settings icon has changed in iOS 7, the gears included still rotate while iOS 7 beta 2 is downloading.

For those of you who don’t know, Apple gave developers the first beta of iOS 7 two weeks ago at its annual Worldwide Developers Conference. This was also the first time in the world that the general public was able to see the major design overhaul made to the platform. When it comes to the exact changes made for iOS 7 beta 2, they have not yet been revealed. We’ll find out soon though as more users download and test this beta version.

Do i have to download iOS 7 beta 2 before doing the restore? If yes, where can i download it? Or do i only have to do the restore, and then click "alt" and search for updates?

You do have to download the ipsw. I am trying to find it but no luck so far. One of the sites said "uploading".

SMS is really messed up now. Reply screen vanishes as do conversations unless you search them.

Stable thus far. Also, instagram works great(i.e. no more greyed out images); however, eBay app still crashes springboard. Battery still seems to be an issue.

Its pretty clear to me that Apple is holding out on some features with these betas. At least i hope. Gone is the weather, facebook, and twitter widget in notification center.. Could this mean we are getting some type of lockscreen widget system?? There is currently no quick way to access your weather which is a little irritating. What could apple be holding out on??? hmmm..

I'm not experiencing that on my i5. I have been running the beta since it was released and just did an OTA update to beta 2. I use it on my primary device with only a few issues here and there. Many of the graphical issues with popup menus seem to be gone and apps like Google+ that wouldn't open work now. My status bar is all funky now. Keeps changing from black to white and sometimes it's black on black so I can't see it.

I really miss the weather widget as well. It does tell you the temperature and current conditions in a text format though. I kind of like that because I can never tell what the hell some of the icons mean. Is it partly cloudy, mostly cloudy or mostly sunny.

You can't expect any 3rd party apps to work on iOS 7 beta until those companies update them to be compatible... Kinda the reason why the beta's are released to us developers.........

Animations are still slow, and I found a bug on how to hide apps. Come on apple.

Care to share how to hide apps? The animations seem much quicker to me, especially multitasking and quitting an app.
