Apple TV Updated With Impressive New Content Access
A reader tipped us off this morning to a new Apple TV update issued by Apple today.
The Apple TV set-top box is finally serving up some long-awaited channels, including HBO Go, WatchESPN, Sky News and more.
Although users will (finally) be allowed to view content from HBO and ESPN on their Apple TV without a direct cable TV subscription, HBO GO on Apple TV still requires a subscription to HBO.
“HBO GO and WatchESPN are some of the most popular iOS apps and are sure to be huge hits on Apple TV,” said Eddy Cue, Apple’s Senior VP of Internet Software and Services, in a press release this morning. “We continue to offer Apple TV users great new programming options, combined with access to all of the incredible content they can purchase from the iTunes Store.”
Apple also revealed today that iTunes users have now downloaded more than one billion TV episodes and 380 million movies from iTunes. Just as impressive is the fact that users now purchase over 800,000 TV episodes and over 350,000 movies per day.
