  • Developer Finds Interesting Hidden Settings in iOS 7 Beta, Features to Come Soon?

iOS developer Hamza Sood has spent some time digging around in iOS 7 long enough to find some interesting hidden settings that have not yet been enabled in the first beta.

After having dug into them himself, the developer was able to identify what the settings are for. It would appear that Apple has been working on settings for gestures within applications, ways to hide stock applications, settings for folder behavior, and more. All of the settings are nested within a main preferences pane in the Settings application called “SpringBoard.”

Under the SpringBoard preferences pane are more preferences panes for the following: Parallax, Dock, Folders, Zoom Animations, Control Center, Lock Screen, App Slider, and CarDisplay.

Sood includes screenshots for the Folders, App Slider and Close Box preferences panes, which reveal interesting Springtomize 2-like options, many of which were jailbreak-only until now, including:

    • Allowing nested folders
    • Pinching folders to close them
    • Blurring the folder icon
    • Blurring the folder background
    • Blurring Newsstand
    • Adjusting the settings of adaptive folder tinting
    • Multitasking gestures
    • Navigation gestures
    • Edge of display swipes
    • Corner of display swipes
    • Press-and-hold gestures
    • Gesture logging
    • Icon animations
    • Hiding stock applications
    • And more

Notably, this is a very small fraction of the number of settings that Sood has discovered. So it piques our interest to see what else Apple may have in store for us. Apple has never really been the type of company to let its users have access to customization, so if Apple really does enable these features in a future release of iOS 7, Apple would certainly make several iOS users happy. On the other hand, there's always the chance that the settings could remain hidden forever.

What do you think about the new settings?

Nope. Legit question. The guy in the article found access to them.. It's perfectly legit to wonder "how".. and can "I do" it too.

This is good news as some of us with 50+ JB tweaks will be able to get rid of a few tweaks... I doubt they really wanna squash jailbreaking anyway... Apple isn't going to encourage it, but they will sit back and quietly observe it... The JB hackers exploits also help apple find holes in their security... It's a cat and mouse game but I think apple likes it... Apple's Peeps be sittin back watching Top Cydia Tweaks videos on YouTube getting ideas... So, uhhhh, yeah... The finds in this article will be super sweet if they will give us these options in the official iOS 7... Goodbye Folder Enhancer, much of Springtomize, Infinifolders, Velox and more?

I just figured since the article stated it was found in a beta version of iOS 7 that it would be apparent that we wont have the ability to enable these options until we all have iOS 7...

It's not available in iOS 7 beta in plain sight. The guy had to modify some files to see those settings.
