  • PC Mag Says AT&T is America's Fastest 4G LTE Network

Although this will probably do little to cool the heated rivalry among the nation's fastest growing 4G LTE networks, PC Mag has declared a winner in the speed department.

AT&T's 4G LTE network has been named the fastest in the nation.

Results of tests in 30 U.S. markets by PC Magazine show AT&T wireless customers are benefiting from "blazing-fast" wireless Internet speeds. In fact, AT&T's network placed first in all six U.S. regions observed in the study: Northeast, Southeast, North-Central, South-Central, Northwest and Southwest.

Overall, AT&T's network ranked first in 24 of the 30 markets tested.

"AT&T is on top of the world this year with the fastest LTE network in most major cities," said PCMag.com's lead mobile analyst Sascha Segan. "Combined with a fast HSPA network where it doesn't have LTE coverage, that makes AT&T our choice this year for speedy mobile data."

It will come as no surprise that AT&T is basking in the spotlight of this latest recognition.

"This PC Magazine honor is another important third-party validation of our network quality. We've listened to our customers, we've invested heavily and worked hard, and today's news again validates that AT&T offers an outstanding network, device portfolio and value," says Kris Rinne, AT&T senior vice president-network technologies.

Would that be with or without data-throttling?

"basking in the spotlight" of what exactly...the POTENTIAL for the fastest network?

"We've listened to our customers...". Maybe they listen...but they continue to renege on service agreements.

maybe it's fastest in the middle of the night. because during Boston rush hour, if you can connect to a data network at all, it still doesn't actually load anything.

We just had our AT&T 4G LTE network turned on in Tuscaloosa, Alabama about two weeks ago.

I did a speed test on the wifi network at my place of employment and had downloads of around 5.5 mbps and uploads of around barely 1 mbps.

I then turned off wifi and went LTE and it pegged out around 53 mbps download and 12-13 mbps upload.

So I would definitely say that it's very fast.

AHHAHAHA! AT&T over the years has proven to be one of the biggest corporate gluttons. They always try to show that there moves are for the consumer, when in reality its all about profitability. We know the drill. No need to sugar coat what is known.

Yeah yours is real good. Mine was turned on months ago and LTE is either really Spotty or doesn't work at all about a mile from my house. I get about 7mbps in the city on a good day. Fastest I've encountered was in Daytona right next to the Daytona speedway was 62mbps. Otherwise RIGHT NOW 11 minutes from my house I get:

      1.62mbps down
      2.10mbps up

      It's pathetic

I can usually get an average of 30-35mbps down and 10mbps up throughout the entire day in my area, which is pretty nice. Though on campus I can get wi-fi with 100mbps down...which is usually where I am all day. The last thing AT&T cares about though is their customers...they're all about the keesh $$$!

I have AT&T since I moved to USA and have had no problems. I get download speeds of about 28 Mbps. Never had Verizon or T-Mo so can't comment on those but AFAIK my monthly bill is way cheaper than my cousin with Verizon. I pay $85/month for 2 lines (one iphone and one dumb phone). I have unlimited data and have never gone past 5 GB/month and have never experienced throttling.

Having two lines also let's me upgrade to the latest iPhone every year (cross-upgrade) rather than once every two years.

I also have Brighthouse and have wifi mostly everywhere in Tampa, FL

Trash talk all you want, AT&T is blazing fast. And I welcome it after being on their 3G network for the last 6 years. Here in SF the LTE network gets 40-50Mbps downstream and 10Mbps upstream.

Sure, all the other things they do are ********. But, you can't complain when it's this fast. I too, keep Wifi off most of the time (thank you unlimited data).

Let us not also forget, AT&T is still the only carrier to let you keep your unlimited data plan when upgrading to a new device, even at upgrade pricing. Verizon, does not.

When I upgraded unlimited was gone so what they did was give me 5Gb and if I go over they won't charge me but did say they would throttle me. But I have yet to go over

If you think any business is here for the consumer you're very delusional. Corporations are here to make money, that is all. They offer the consumer enough to encourage them to fork over their money and nothing more. So to even make the statement "when in reality its all about profitability" shows just how much that statement rings true in your case.

I have been happy with att for the most part from the time they were cingular. I do however have an issue with them bringing LTE to a bunch of Podunk towns before they brought it to the Denver area. However now that it's here it's in the 50mb down range most of the time in downtown.

      300% faster than what? T-Mo's 3G or AT&T's LTE?

It will be interesting to see how AT&T's network is after the release of the next iteration of the iPhone. My is based on assumption but seems logical.

I assume the majority of users get every other iteration of iPhone due to the discounted rate of signing a new contract. I went from 3Gs to 4S with unlimited and plan on using it with the 5S(?) The S iPhones are always the best in my opinion too.
