  • How to Get a Somewhat iOS 7-like Lock Screen On Your Jailbroken iOS 6 Device

While iOS 7 won’t be out for the public for some time, some of you are developers and have access to the iOS 7 beta. While it may be tempting, we still think you should stick with your iOS 6 firmware and your jailbreak. Luckily as expected, the jailbreak community is already working on iOS 7-ifying the iOS 6 experience.

One way to start is with a new WinterBoard theme that makes the lock screen look a lot more like the lock screen on iOS 7. The theme is shown above, and as you can see, the lock screen clock no longer has the glass behind it, and the slide to unlock slider is just plain text without a slider just like it is in iOS 7. There are some text differences, but that’s hard to point out without seeing the actual iOS 7 lock screen right next to this one.

The theme gives you the full lock screen wallpaper experience by eliminating all of the things that would usually overlay it. It even gets rid of the dark status bar to have the status bar elements directly on top of the wallpaper.

The things that are missing are the notification center grabber for the lock screen, since iOS 6 doesn’t offer that, and the control center grabber for the lock screen, since iOS 6 doesn’t offer that either. Notably, the Camera Grabber isn’t visible, but if you try to drag up, the Camera application will still open. You also can't unlock the device by dragging anywhere; you still have to drag on the Slide to Unlock bar.

The theme actually plays double-duty and removes the background color from behind the Status Bar on the home screen too:

While it may not be as full of functionality as the iOS 7 lock screen, it does do a pretty good job of trying to duplicate the effects for those that want to stick with iOS 6. If you would like to give it a try, you can find the theme for free in Cydia’s BigBoss repository under the name of "iOS 7 Lockscreen Theme."

The developer recommends that you use this theme in combination with a jailbreak tweak known as NoLockNotificationsBG to make notifications transparent on the lock screen like they are in iOS 7.

We have a feeling that more themes like this will be coming out in the near future to try and bring more of an iOS 7 experience to iOS 6 devices. Keep your eyes peeled as we keep you updated.

I saved the folder to my Dropbox but can't access that folder through iFile. I will try using a cable a little later.

You need to leave it in .zip format in order for you to get the option to open in iFile

Can't figure out how to add screenshots. I hate this ModMyi app.

I've started using Photobucket to post pix here. I use their app to upload and copy the image address and then paste that into my replies

Notes worked. Calendar is off. Font is too light. I do appreciate your time.

I like you got the stock slide to unlock to have the thin font.

I copied and edited/renamed the 'iOS 7 NC Control Toggles' to work in IntelliScreenX. Also added a Music Widget for NC and a Transluscent Theme

I'd almost think it'd have to be a Dreamboard Theme due to all of the animations throughout the software

I don't think there's no way to change the text on the ui to any other color.

I discovered the font file that needs to be edited to make everything look decent!!! FYI, it can prolly change font color, too!

I decided on a happy-medium between being too thin and too thick. The reasoning is because this file also edits the Status Bar Clock and certain other Internal App fonts. Here's my final result:

      iOS 7 vs My Font
