'CallReminders' Makes it Simple to Call People From the Reminders App
If you find yourself using the Reminders application to remind you to call people often, then you may find this new free jailbreak tweak useful. Dubbed CallReminders
by iOS developers snakeninny and djnightlife, the new tweak lets you easily perform phone calls to your Contacts from the Reminders application as long as you include their name in quotes in the Reminder.
As shown above, the tweak makes it super simple to remind yourself to call someone in your Contacts. If you wanted to be reminded to call your friend Nick in a couple of hours, you could simply say ‘Call “Nick”’ and CallReminders would take effect. When the Reminders application reminds you to call Nick, you can tap on the reminder to bring up a dialog box that lets you tap on the contact's Mobile number. If you have their number set to iPhone, or something else, it would say iPhone or something else rather than mobile. Tapping on the word "mobile" will initiate a phone call to Nick.
The key here is that the person you want to call must be in your contact list and you must put in quotes something that the tweak can look for to identify the contact, like a first name. This means if you wanted to use the tweak to remind you to call your Mechanic when the shop opens in the morning, you would need to say "Call Mechanic" if you had the person listed under your Contacts as "Mechanic" or you would use their name if you had the person listed under your contacts with a full name.
The tweak adds a preferences pane to the Settings application where you can configure a delimiter of your choice. By default you must use quotes to open and close someone's name, but you can use and delimiter you want to:
CallReminders works on iOS 5 and iOS 6, so if you’re running either of those firmwares or any variances of the two that can be jailbroken, you can find this tweak in Cydia and take advantage of it. It’s completely free in Cydia’s BigBoss repository.
