  • 'PocketNotify' Lets You Discreetly Check Your iPhone for Notifications

We’ve all been in a situation where we have been in the middle of a boring conversation, a dinner at the dinner table, or a meeting in class or at work. It’s rude to pull your phone out to check for notifications during any of these events, but it still itches our brains to know if anyone has tried contacting us.

A new jailbreak tweak known as PocketNotify by iOS developer Coleman Stavish has a solution. The tweak lets you configure an Activator action that you can invoke from the lock screen to check and see if you have any notifications. If you have a notification(s), your device will vibrate. If you don’t have a notification, nothing will happen.

The developer notes that using a physical button might be one of the better Activator action options to use since you won’t have any view of your lock screen while it’s in your pocket. Since you can still keep your head in the air while you check for notifications this way, you can do so without appearing rude to the person you should be giving attention to.

The developer notes that the tweak works whether or not you have disabled Vibrate on Ring/Silent in the Settings application, so you won’t have to worry about any bizarre situations keeping the tweak from working properly.

Unfortunately, even though the tweak lets you check for notifications as a whole, the tweak doesn’t make it obvious what application you have a notification for, so you will still have to look and see later on. If you want to give the tweak a try, it's available in Cydia's BigBoss repository for 99˘ and it works with any firmware iOS 5.0 or later.

    Name: PocketNotify
    Price: 99˘
    Version: 1.0
    Requirements: iOS 5+
    Repo: BigBoss
    Developer: Coleman Stavish

It's good as that tweak gets. How COULD you see what specific app it is?
      Props to the dev.

Great tweak! Should it cost money? Probably not. But I understand that the dev wants to make money. Please don't bombard me.

I'd love to have an LED embedded into Home Button for the square with rounded edges to light up. It would be so cool!!!
