Apple Brings 'Siri'ous Change to iOS 7
Apple today revealed some forthcoming changes to Siri, Apple's voice-activated intelligent personal assistant.
In addition to a new look for Siri, she's getting the chance to become a "he" thanks to new gender control options demonstrated at WWDC.
For starters, the voice command technology can be either female or
male in iOS 7. Aside from English, Siri works in French and German now.
Beyond the revamped look and sound of Siri, there are some improvements to the service's utility as well. For example, Siri can now control more aspects of the iPhone, including voicemail playback and screen brightness. Siri can even comply when asked to read content from the likes of Twitter and wikipedia.
Online web searches can be facilitated through voice command in iOS 7, with search results returning from Bing. Expanding in-car options, Siri Eyes Free support will now let users display content - including maps - on an external screen inside of their vehicles.
2014 automobiles from the likes of Honda, Mercedes, Nissan, Chevy, Kia and Hyundai will see expanded Siri integration.
