  • Apple Raises The Curtain on 'Stunningly Simple' Flatter iOS 7

As expected, Apple today unveiled iOS 7 during the WWDC 2013 keynote, showing off the handy work of Apple's design guru Jonathan Ive and the broader design team. Chatter about a massive resign began less than one year ago when Scott Forestall was fired and replaced by Ive who effectively became the man in charge of the new look and feel of iOS 7.

Introduced through video by Ive personally, iOS 7 "defines an important new direction and a beginning" for the iOS ecosystem. Offering what is best described as a remarkably clean, almost invisible look for iOS, the mobile operating system refresh definitely impressed those on hand at WWDC 2013.

"You are absolutely going to love iOS 7," Cook said, to which an audience member shouted "I love you!"

Perhaps most striking upon first glance in iOS 7 is the motion tracking element. As you move the device, it now tracks your motion and capitalizes on parallax to allow users to see behind the icons. Best of all, Apple says, "it carries over the entire system, this liveliness."

Yes, the design is flatter than what we're used to, but not in a stale or drab fashion as some had feared.

Taking the stage again this morning in San Francisco, Craig Federighi demonstrated the more sleek typography delivered in iOS 7, new icons, and a broad color scheme. Messages, Calendar, and the phone application itself are all touched by the redesign. In Messages, for example, users can just swipe from the left bezel and look at a list of messages.

There's improved browsing, multi-tasking, control center, better photo organization, built-in photo filters, shared photo streams, tabs, airdrop, bookmarks, new Safari, and more. Want to check out the weather? You can tap and swipe through locations, each giving you a gorgeous representations of the weather in these spots (motion thunder, lightning, snow included.)

iOS 7 will even will monitor usage habits so that it can run certain apps automatically upon launch.

There are just some of the many new attributes and aspects of iOS 7. Stay with MMi for more details as the day progresses.

I will admit and I'm sure others will agree, they did bite some ideas but hey, so does others. But they did come through and give you much than you had before. So that I am happy about. I myself, would give up my jb for ios7, but again that's just me.

With the beautiful UI, the control center integration , and the redesigned multitasking interface , there is really no need for a jailbreak . Any other tweaks are just little things here and there but no deal breakers . Not to mention 95% of the themes for winterboard are over the top exaggerated and gimmicky. I'm loving iOS 7 and will definitely kiss my jail break goodbye. I don't see why people say apple is ripping off the JB community . Isn't that what we've been bitc**** and begging for ?

Those of you who are willing to give up your jailbreak and hundreds of tweaks, Just to have eye candy, are ludicrous.

      +1

True multitasking is now available in ios7 according to the presentation, which is a bit HTC Sense-like.

People hating on iOS 7 saying Apple ripping off of Android and Jailbreak Community... Are you kidding me?

Who TF would complain about improvements AND new features that doesn't require a jailbreak to have or do anymore?

      What a bunch of morons.

For sure, nobody's gonna force you to leave the JB world, especially if you've invested in Cydia apps and tweaks quite a bit. But for those new ios device owners, and for those going to adopt, ios7 is a welcome update, after spending years with a stagnant os.

Looks ok but until the untethered jailbreak is released I'm not even considering this as a upgrade. There's not much worth upgrading for at the moment yet alone losing my JB for.

Currently in the same debacle. I have about 60 tweaks/themes/apps that are all so significant to my everyday experience whilst using my phone. Gonna be a tough decision.
