  • PopCap Announces Plants Vs. Zombies 2 Will Be Released July 18, Releases Trailer Video

PopCap sure has been keeping the suspense going for Plants Vs. Zombies 2. It was announced that the game was to be launched this Summer, but PopCap has Monday finally revealed a release date indicating that the game will be released worldwide in the App Store on July 18th.

What’s more is that unlike the game’s predecessor, Plants Vs. Zombies 2 will be a free download in the App Store and offer in-app purchases. This officially gives Plants Vs. Zombies 2 the "fremium" label.

In addition to the announcement, PopCap has released new video trailer for the sequel to the popular Plants Vs. Zombies game:

Does anyone remember the game clumsy ninja that was supposed to come out last fall? What ever happened to that?

Oh **** off in game purchases....I'd rather pay $5-15 for the game up front and have all the content, instead of playing a bit then realising I need to continually spend money if I want to play it properly

I agree, but that's where iAP cracker comes in handy (hopefully the purchases won't be server based)

Before you all jump into the "admitting I pirate IAP" and "EA is literally hitler", Edge has a preview up:

Relax: it’s not that kind of free-to-play. There’s no energy system, no limit on lives – you can play through the entire game in a single sitting, if you’ve got about 15 hours to spare. There are no paywalls, no Candy Crush-style insistence that you either badger Facebook friends or pay a nominal fee to get to the next level. There are a handful of premium items – permanent boosts that increase your starting amount of sun, for instance – available through real money in-app purchase, and a handful of plants, too. But as lead producer Allen Murray explains, PopCap is determined to prove to the sceptical that free-to-play doesn’t have to be evil. “Frankly, it’s been something the team has really struggled with: how do we do it right? We’re just trying to find a really good balance. We want people to play and enjoy the game, and not feel like they’re being bilked all the time.”
But for real, when did it become ok to admit anywhere you steal?

totally agree, I guess this is a way to try and get around pirates.... Rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I have been known to drop a little for in game charges but think it's crap it's a must in a lot of games. (must for the game to actually be playable)

Appears that this game is not one of those (according to the preview above)

As far as admitting you steal..... free country bub.... they can admit to anything they want. I have been known to DL and try a game. Don't want me doing that? Then offer me a refund if your game is rubbish. Until then, I'll continue to DL to try and dump if I don't like, buy if I do. Been doing it that way as long as I've been able to and will continue to do so as long as I'm able to. I won't try hacked versions when I can get my money back if not satisfied.
