  • New Windows 8 Tablet Commercial Uses Siri Against the iPad

Microsoft recently aired an advertisement titled "Less talking, more doing," which pits a tablet running the companyís Windows 8 platform against the iPad. The interesting thing about the ad is that it features an unlikely narrator: Appleís personal assistant, Siri.

The commercial, which was first spotted by The Verge, gives off the vibe of an Apple ad in the beginning, complete with upbeat music and a large amount of white space around the product. Things turn sour really quickly as one notices the white iPod is not paired with the usual iPad mini but instead a black tablet running Windows 8.

Siri then appears to be struggling with a few functions that are highlight features for a Microsoft Windows 8-running tablet. Live updating tiles, multitasking and PowerPoint are mentioned as things Siri, and by proxy the iPad, canít do.

At the end of the commercial, pricing for each device is prominently displayed, in this case itís the $699 64 GB iPad and a similarly equipped $449 Asus VivoTab Smart.

Those of you who are interested in watching the commercial can watch it below:

and seriously? Windows 8 was deemed the worst OS ever developed. LOL. Even by Microsoft themselves. Microsoft's Windows 8 Update to Address Criticism | Fox Business

Are there any iPhone commercials bashing Nokia or Samsung or Google or Android or any other company?

That commercial is horrible, as is power point. Keynote can create much more impressive presentations.

      1) Nokia's current CEO is former MS employee
      2) Nokia phones are WinMobile based now
      3) commercial was about WinMobile, rather than the phone itself

Welcome to modern business. That was great, but no matter how many funny commercials Microsoft throws out, Windows8 will still be frustrating/confusing users and their phones will still be so bad you can't give them away

Not true. Windows ME was worse. At least Windows 8 functions. Granted, it has a stupid UI, but unlike ME, I'm willing to bet it would find my LAN card drivers.

Yeah I'm sorry to say it.. But this video is a bomb. I work for BestBuy and when I do a side by side comparison it's sad to see that the iPad can only do so little as opposed to Surface pro which has the ability to perform like a real computer with usb port and etc, You have the new Galaxy note 8-inch with the S-Pen, with split screen and all that.. And it's funny when a customer walk in to my store and I ask them why do you need an iPad and they don't even have a solid answer. And it's so funny that iOS doesn't even really have a true multitasking system. Once you switch to a different app and go back to what you were doing it will take you back to a new screen. I'm a Apple fan no lie. I own each and every single thing they announce. But now looking at reality, it's sad because I had to return my iPad because it does the exact thing my phone does. Like what's the future here ? What's next ? You can't even do two things at once on an iPad, it's the exact thing with the phone. And people keep buying them just to look cool. Life is sad

You cannot really compare them. One is a full OS. The other is a tablet. What more is there to say. Funny to me that the tablet is beating the full OS. Yet the remarks above about how much better it is?? According to the public(you know the people with the $$ to buy this stuff) they like the iPad better :]

It's sad and misleading that when they compared pricing in the end for 64gb model, they forgot to mention that iPad has available capacity of 62gb and Surface has 23gb.
