Google Releases Google Hangouts App for iOS
Google Wednesday released a new application into the iOS App Store called Google Hangouts, which will compete directly with Apple’s iMessage and FaceTime features. Google Hangouts is also cross-platform, meaning you will be able to be on an iPhone chatting with someone on another iPhone, or if you can be on an iPhone chatting with someone that has a Samsung handset, etc.
Google Hangouts includes a video chatting feature, which supports chatting with up to 10 friends at once, as well as a messaging feature that supports sending pictures and videos; Emojis are also supported. The messaging feature lets you chat one-on-one, or you can have group chats. You will even be able to see when your friends are available for a Hangout.
Thanks to the cloud, anything you do on one device with Google Hangouts can be picked up and continued on another device with Google Hangouts; Google Hangouts will work on all iOS devices, all Android devices, and from the Web on many other devices.
Google notes more features in the App Description, which we have for you below:
More Hangouts awesomeness:
-- View and continue your Hangouts across devices.
-- Get notifications just once. After you see an alert, it’ll be removed on other devices.
-- Snooze your notifications if you’d prefer to respond later.
-- See what you talked about in the past, including shared photos and your video call history.
-- Keep a record of any Hangout for just a short period of time by turning history off.
-- View collections of photos shared from each of your Hangouts.
-- Choose from over 850 emoji to express what’s on your mind.
Google Hangouts supports the iPhone, iPod touch, and even the iPad out of the box (no waiting for an iPad support update this time, ha!) If you want to download Google Hangouts and get started today, you can download the application for free via this App Store link
