  • Nuu Mini-key Turns iPhone 4 into a QWERTY Slider

If you missed accessory maker Nuu's latest creation, chances are you'll be seeing a lot more of it in the coming weeks. Recently at IFA, the company unveiled a new iPhone 4 accessory that serves up a fully integrated keyboard. As the photos clearly illustrate, the Nuu Mini-key morphs your iPhone 4 into a QWERTY Slider.

While no shortage of iPhone 4 owners (yours truly included) will find little interest in or use for the Mini-key, the accessory will be appealing to those who like their mobile devices to have "a slide out adjustable hinge" that, for the lack of a better description, transforms your iPhone into a flip phone replete with a physical keyboard, raised letter keys, and backlighting.

    From Mobile Mag:

A potential game-changer for those who experience email and SMS frustrations with Apple touchscreens (it also makes video watching a hands-free experience).
For now, this accessory - which has people either drooling or revolting depending on your iDevice preferences - doesn't really exist. The gadget unveiled at IFA in Berlin was simply a prototype. The "real deal" won't roll off assembly lines until late in the holiday shopping season. The cost? Roughly $70.

that things HUGE. plus it has back lighting and all which is good but seriously im sure it would consume some of the battery life along with it.

Make Space for Basic Game Pad on left and some buttons on right and it'll become the best phone for everthing and less cramped hands.

That is a sure-fire way to make your iPhone ugly and at the same time make you look stupid. If you really want a keyboard that bad then go buy another phone or blackberry but don't buy this piece of crap.

will it work with the 3GS...? I'm not ditching my old bootrom 3GS anytime soon (especially not for the i4) I always wanted to try out a physical keyboard with the iPhone, I'm sold if this thing does not require bluetooth to run; but if it does it would need a battery to boost usage times.

My biggest gripe is that the keys aren't offset. That was the number one most terrible thing with the original droid IMO.

I thought the novelty of a touchscreen phone was using the touchscreen keyboard lol. I wouldn't get this, wouldn't have an iPhone if I wanted a physical keyboard...

I've been saying this should be a reality ever since iOS 4 gave the iPhone Bluetooth keyboard support.

Yes this would be better with SBrotator, there's no point in using the keyboard on the home screen when you're looking at it sideways. However it would be great with applications like Mail. Or maybe an application from Cydia that detects when the keyboard is in place and automatically switches the SB or any application when it is flipped out. Something like that would be better than SBRotator so that SB does not flip when you don't want it to.
