  • 'Triple Tap To Clear' Lets You Triple-tap the Messages Text Field to Clear it Faster

We’ve all been in the situation where we’ve typed out something rather long and have to sit there holding down on the backspace button to clear it out. While some text fields in iOS have a little ‘x’ button in them for easily clearing out the text, the Messages application text field isn’t one of them, and holding the backspace button to clear text is quite the time-consuming way to get rid of unwanted text in the text field.

A new free jailbreak tweak called Triple Tap To Clear by iOS developer greensnow makes this a lot easier, by allowing you to triple-tap after the text in the text field to completely clear out the text that’s in it. This is very useful for those longer text messages that you have decided not to send and want to clear out quickly without the hassle of waiting for the backspace key.

Triple Tap To Clear doesn’t come with any options to configure, as it’s basically jsut one of those tweaks that you just install and start using; in the event that you don’t want to use it anymore, you will need to uninstall the tweak.

Triple Tap To Clear is designed only to work in the Messages application, and it works whether you’re sending an SMS text message, or an iMessage. If you are interested in giving the tweak a try, it’s available for free in Cydia’s ModMyi repository.

I Realise that too, this was just a personal tweak i had because i hated holding down the backspace button and i don't like holding it down and then pressing select all and then pressing the backspace button because i normally make more of a mess trying to ease it. so i just thought i would share some of my tiny modifications last night (like seen in cydia today) that i personally use, and if they have use to others then thats great to hear, if not thats's cool too, because its just a matter of preference.

Oh and Anthony Bouchard, i wanted to thank you for the review on this and the others you have done

Hey greensnow - is there an undo option on this for accidental clearing of all text in the message field? Sounds like a cool, subtle tweak (love minor ones like these).

I tried it but was having issues. I think it's because I have swipe selection.

      greensnow,

does this work for biteSMS? I had it installed and didn't get it to work, so I assumed the support wasn't there.
