'Exigency' Lets You Easily Call a Contact From the Lock Screen
In iOS, there is an Emergency Call button at the bottom left of the Passcode interface on the lock screen. The Emergency Call button can come in handy when you want to dial emergency numbers; however, it’s not very useful when you have to call a family member or friend in an emergency. This is where a new free jailbreak tweak called Exigency
by iOS developer rvirajm
comes in handy.
Exigency makes it so that rather than tapping on the Emergency Call button to input an emergency phone number into the keypad, you can choose between doing that or picking a contact in your Contacts list (just like as shown above) to call. This is handy for the situation where you need to call a family member or a friend in an emergency rather than an actual emergency number, and can reduce the amount of time used to get in touch with them.
The tweak has an obvious security problem that cannot be overlooked – by installing it, you can access your contacts list from the lock screen and call any of them without having to enter your Passcode. For some, this might be a major breach of iOS security, but for those looking for the convenience, this is a nice little tweak to add to iOS.
Exigency can be enabled or disabled at any time via the preferences pane in the Settings application; depending on the situation at hand, this may be a way to help control the security problem mentioned earlier. There are no other options to configure. Exigency requires an iPhone running iOS 6 or later to use.
Exigency is available right now at no cost in the ModMyi repository of Cydia.
