  • 'Audio Recorder' is the First True iPhone Call Recorder Ever to Hit Cydia

Have you ever wanted to record your iPhone phone calls similarly to the way that companies might record your conversations with them to improve customer service? Well now you can, thanks to the first iPhone call recorder to hit Cydia called Audio Recorder by iOS developer limneos.

All phone calls recorded with Audio Recorder can be stored locally on your iPhone so you can listen to them later and calls are recorded on the device itself without the need for a remote server, meaning you won't have to have an internet connection to record your calls. This is great for conversations with your friends that you want to be able to listen back on to prove someone wrong on what they have said, and is also great if you need to record a call from a threatening caller to send in to the police. All locally-stored iPhone calls can be played from the device, sent via e-mail, or deleted on demand.

Because recording a call requires the consent of the other person before you can legally record them, the tweak will automatically play a voice message alerting the other person that they will be recorded during this call. They then have the choice to hang up, or continue talking. This feature cannot be disabled by the user.

According to the developer, Audio Recorder only works on the iPhone 4S and iPhone 5, but older devices will be supported in a future update. There is also currently a bug in the software that makes it so iPhone 4S users have to use speaker phone mode to record calls.

If you’ve been waiting patiently for a phone call recording solution for the iPhone, then Audio Recorder is something you will want to check out. It is available for download in Cydia through Limneos' personal repository (add http://limneos.net/repo); after downloading the tweak from Cydia, you can head over to the Settings application and you’ll be able to purchase the tweak for $3.99 from there.

That sucks about the message being played. In Ohio the other person doesn't have to be notified. Lol.

I fail to understand why the software writer feels the necessity to have the auto message.

Only some states require notifying "the other party" of the recording. Why is it not left up to the owner of said recorder (the person purchasing the product) be left to convey said msg?

This software is long overdue, but I wait for a/the version that allows me to determine if I want to notify the other party.

Saw it this morning. Almost downloaded it until I saw the notified part, how is this going to help someone who's getting threatening calls when they're told? Obviously if the person making those threatening calls is going to hang up if they're told they're being recorded. When the dev removes this part or makes it optional, I will for sure download

You can get it if u look hard enough if its a must have for u. I tried it out and mine did not have a message at the beginning and I was able to disable the 5-10 second beeps.

I got it before it was pulled. You can't push the record button until the other party answers which is also ridiculous. The only way around the announcement is to call a friend then push the record button then have them call the unsuspecting party on 3 way. Very buggy when i tried to play with 3 way on my end. I live in a state where this is legal. Also thought it was weird how I didn't pay through Cydia like I normally do for purchases. You down load the app then in the settings it directs you to the creators Paypal. $3.99 per device!

Yea and someone said they disabled them so I asked how.

Sweet. Got it from a 'special' source.

There's an option to disable the beeping noise in the settings and for some reason the warning notification didn't come up for the other person - so I guess it works perfectly for some people

Is there an app that records phone audio that isn't on a call?
