iMessage, FaceTime Service Down for Unknown Number of Users
On Tuesday afternoon, we began hearing from readers reporting an outage in their iMessage and FaceTime services.
We can now confirm that a widespread but unknown number of users are experiencing similar issues at this hour. For now, Apple has only confirmed that something is amiss on its its iCloud System Status
page, but specific details are lacking.
Those reporting issues say that the iMessage and/or FaceTime service cannot send messages or place video calls.
Understandably, without a firm diagnosis of the underlying problem, there is no estimate in place with regard to when the services may begin functioning normally.
The last outage of this magnitude came with the introduction of the OS X 10.8.3 maintenance update. Hopefully, Apple will respond as quickly to this issue as it has to others in the recent past.
