  • WeatherIcon 6 Released With Support for iOS 6

The popular WeatherIcon jailbreak tweak by dba technologies has been updated Sunday with support for iOS 6. The new version of the tweak is called WeatherIcon 6 and is now available in Cydia’s ModMyi repository as a free download.

In case you’re not familiar with WeatherIcon, the tweak allows the user to make the Weather application icon more useful. The weather application icon will display the actual temperature of the user-set location, rather than the 73º indicator that the tweak always shows. In addition, the icon will also show sun, clouds, rain, or other weather conditions depending on the actual weather of the user-set location.

WeatherIcon’s preferences pane can be found inside of the settings for the weather widget in the Notifications preferences pane in the Settings application:

From the preferences pane, the user can choose the application icon that WeatherIcon will customize. This is great for people that use third-party weather applications that don’t really care to put the current weather conditions on the stock weather application.

In addition, the tweak also gives the user the option to display the current weather conditions and current temperature in the Status Bar; however, the developer notes that an update to libstatusbar is required to use these features, so they’re off limits for the time being. The update should be out soon.

Be sure to grab this awesome Cydia classic; now iOS 6-compatible!

Anyone know how to stop the weathericon 6 being iPhone sized when installed on iPad, with iPhone native apps installed from cydia via Bassam's repo??

Yes, I have done it. You have to change the name of the icon, as well as its size. Since it belongs to the author, I submitted it to him, but I don't believe he has released the iPad fix for it.

You know, you have posted a grand total of 4 times in all of Mmi, all of which are in this thread. You have been a member here for 3 whole months. Sometimes the way someone asks questions, and then the way they follow up on their question, has a lot to do with how many long-time members of this site respond.

      Ok, apologies to all ....

I really am sorry, it's just this one little thing is annoying the .... out of me!

If anyone out there chooses to be ever so nice as to tell me how to do this, I'll be eternally grateful! And this will be my last post on this topic.

Once I can settle this issue, I'll start reading other ppl's other issues, and help where I can.

Ok, actually I wouldn't waste much time on this, because the WeatherIcon6 will only update upon a reboot or respring, so it is pretty useless. However, if you have it installed, you will want to be sure the icons end in @2x.png, and that they are sized twice as large as the iPhone ones are. But, remember that I am not aware of anyone having this work on a consistent basis. I would recommend reading through this entire thread - it's only 4 pages, so it won't take long.

Hi mate, cheers for replying, the thing I'm now not sure of is where WeatherIcon 6 stores it's png's, BY THE WAY ..., mine updates as soon as I pull down and tap on my lockscreen or springboard weather widget, I use intelliscreenx and dashboard x too!

If you just use the weather icon not at all. Run about 50 of them and you may see some drain lol. They are all very lean running though. I run about 20-30 all the time and my battery is just fine.

Under my theme /bundles/com.ashman.WeatherIcon I have the png's on my iPhone, but not on my iPad, looks like I might need to iLexRAT my iPad, I'm over it, the strange size WeatherIcon looks quirky and iCool, it can stay iphone sized on my iPad, not important .....
