  • The Next Jailbreak May Come From iOS Hacker p0sixninja

iOS hacker Joshua Hill, better known as p0sixninja and for his efforts in previous jailbreak tools made by the Chronic Dev Team, has announced early Friday morning that the next jailbreak for iOS may be created by him in its entirety.

According to the hacker, he has been busy collecting several exploits over the course of the last few months that could potentially be used for a jailbreak. Hill isnít specific when he mentions them, but since he says the ďnextĒ jailbreak could be created entirely by him, we assume that his exploits are not used in evasi0n and therefore havenít yet been patched in iOS 6.1.3 like the evasi0n jailbreak has been.

Hill goes on to explain that the evad3rs hacker team isnít going away. Hill simply appears to be confident enough in his own exploits and expresses that a jailbreak may be able to be produced with them some time in the future. Itís not known if Hill plans to use them for another future iOS 6 release, or if he is going to attempt to wait for iOS 7 to see if they will be of any help.

Whether he chooses to save them for iOS 7 or not, it's still good news to hear that more exploits are being found. We know for a fact that the evad3rs also have a stockpile of exploits and it should be interesting to see if any of them can be used for iOS 7, which we all hope will be followed by a speedy jailbreak release.

I'm with you there, I would love a re-restore or downgrade option as a backup plan. But for now just going into ifunbox and deleting whatever tweak caused my problem is my only chance of not having to restore, if it comes to that

      Yep...
Had to use iExplorer last night to remove a .dylib that caused a Bootloop after installing the tweak. I have to admit, I puckered up for a little while!

Without a restore option EVERYONE is one tweak away from no jailbreak at all.
Didn't the devs say they saved exploits from IOS 5 anyways? And we still waited 6-7 months for IOS 6 to be jb?

It was more like 4 and a half months. iOS 6 hasn't even been out for 7 months yet.

Pardon my exaggeration. IOS 6 was released Sep. 20 and evasi0n was released Feb. 4th I believe. So almost 5 months of wait time.

I have to agree. Some of these tweaks don't say it's not compatible and they can cause serious issues. In my case, I 'guessed' that if I could find the .dylib (which is in /Library/MobileSubstrate/DynamicLibraries) then I could delete it and everything would return to normal.

A lot of novice jailbreakers don't know how to do that cuz they're afraid to mess w/ the filesystem. In their case, they'd be stuck thinking a Restore is the only option.

But this is also why people need to learn to do a bit of research, I get if your new you don't understand much, but if this is your 2nd+ time jailbreaking, you should learn to do research before restoring. Most problems can be fixed with a simple google search using the correct keywords, or looking at/posting on the forums of this site

What I think is people should be grateful we even have a jailbreak and stop complaining about oh they should waste an exploit every time Apple decides to release a pointless update just to patch the jailbreak. People don't stop and realize how hard it is for the devs of these jailbreaks to find/make exploits for another jailbreak. If people have problems with there jailbreak restore if your only option is to update so be it wait for a jailbreak I mean for crying out loud with my iPhone 4S I had to wait for a jailbreak for iOS6 and my iPod 4G was tethered I didn't ***** because I didn't have a jailbreak I waited patiently until the dev team released a untethered. Seriously people need to quit complaining and be great full for what they got. I agree there should be a way to downgrade 5X chips and above but that will take a lot of work and time for the devs to figure out.

I'm still trying to figure out the big deal about iOS7. I was thrilled about iMessage (I think that was iOS5 though), I was curious about the new maps in 6, but neither really thrilled or devastated. I couldn't wait to get an iPhone 5 for LTE connectivity. I'm not sure what the big benefit to the newer iOS or phone is. I hope Apple continues to innovate on the Phones, but I can't fault anyone for choosing a droid. Top reason for me to stick with iPhone is Pages & Numbers. I can't really imagine that I'd be willing to give up my jail break on iOS6 unless some killer app gets added to it.

Have the security holes been plugged in iOS 7? If so, why not create a jail break for 6.1.3?

Why waste an exploit just in case they didn't patch it

If they didn't patch it, then there shouldn't be a jail break for 6.1.3 until an iOS 7 jailbreak is created. But if they have patches the exploits. Why not create the jailbreak for 6.1.3. Apple is known for stopping to push out minor updates after they have announced new products. Look at 5.1.1 for example.

I'm not sure that a lot is going to be gained from a jailbreak in iOS 7, at least from a theming viewpoint. Unless someone constructs a new theming platform. I don't see WB being viable based on the death of the artwork files.

I don't think most people jailbreak for themes. They jailbreak for functionality, and although iOS 7 includes a lot from the jailbreak community (which I'm thankful for), there are always going to be tweaks that'll make iOS better.
