  • Munster: Tweets Preview The Outcome of iPhone 5 vs. Galaxy S4

Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster says the iPhone 5 has nothing to worry about with regard to what appears to be a serious new challenge from the Samsung Galaxy S4.

How does he know this? As it turns out, the resident Wall Street Apple watcher did an analysis of Twitter reactionS to the iPhone 5 versus the Samsung Galaxy S4.

The iPhone had 5X as many tweets as the S4 had on each phone's launch day. Therefore, Munster believes, "that the standard iPhone will essentially maintain its market share in the high-end of the market through CY13 (low 40% worldwide)."
Scientific? That's questionable. Exacerbating tension between iOS and Android fans? Undoubtedly. So if you're buying what Munster is selling, Samsung won't kill the iPhone when the Galaxy S4 rolls out (even though 73 percent of the iPhone 5 tweets were positive compared to 81% being positive for the S4.)

Munster, however, believes this was the case because "the iPhone 5 was well telegraphed, thus some consumers may have been let down that there were no surprises."

Seriously! Lets not compare phones in anyway until they are released. And I would much rather compare the GS4 to the iPhone 5S and not the 5.

Yea that would make more sense. They always compare the newest android phone to the year before iPhone. And then when we get the new iPhone it dominates.

Kinda like comparing the iPhone 5 to the S3? Why not compare it to an equivalent priced Android released in the same time frame.

Uh, because it works both ways. The newest Galaxy S comes out and is faster than the 6 month old iPhone. Then the iPhone comes out and it's faster than the 6 month old Galaxy S.

Diversion is that android fans are haters who imediatelly start talking bad about iphone 5. Apple fans, just dont care about S4 enough to tweet about it... And there are couple possible reasons to do it..

If only your release date information was correct, your comment would have merit. As is, it's time to check your facts.

In the end its still the consumer that decides who wins and who loses. Galaxy S is a nice phone. Yet it would not exist if not for the iPhone. Remember the first Galaxy S model? It was almost a carbon copy in look. Now its which one is better? Umm..the originator of course iPhone :]IMO of course haha!

The Nexus 4 came out around the same time as the iPhone 5...Apart from the camera it's a decent iPhone 5 contender.

Wow GS4 coming out soon. Bigger and faster. New toy to play with, that great!

Apple fans do the same. Just go take a look at any post that compares Android to Apple, fanboys all over the place. The S4 isn't the only high end phone Android has to offer. There's the DNA, One, One X, Nexus and so on

I have both the iphone 5 and samsung galaxy s3 , both have their plus points , android is good for downloading torrents and is more hackable than ios , ios i hope gets a real upgrade in ios 7 as it is old fashioned now , like the iphone 5 look but its too easy to scratch even with a case on it ( on the sides ) now on my 7th iphone 5 and 1st galaxy s3 , plastic looks cheap but does last longer than the alu used by apple , hope iphone 5s goes back to the same metal as the 4s as my 4s still looks like its new even after a year of heavy use , i wont buy the s4 as the s3 is good enough for now also no 5s as the 5 is also when i get a good one , also good enoughfor another year
