At the beginning of the month, we showed you a jailbreak tweak that enabled face detection while capturing video on the iPhone 4S. The tweak was useful for those with an iPhone 4S, but it really left those with other kinds of iOS devices in the dark.
The same iOS developer (PoomSmart) has stepped forward Wednesday afternoon with a new jailbreak tweak called FaceDetectionDuringVideo. The tweak is just like FaceDetectionVideo4S, however it enables face detection while capturing video on all of the following devices:
- iPod touch 5G
- iPhone 4S
- iPad 4
- iPad Mini
With face detection enabled, your device will show green bounding boxes around every face in the frame when shooting video, or when snapping photographs. These green bounding boxes won’t appear in the actual videos or photos when they’re recorded to the Camera Roll.
Also, while checking out FaceDetectionDuringVideo, check out more of PoomSmart's jailbreak tweaks for the Camera application that enable features Apple disables by default:
- LLBiPT5 – enable low light boost mode on iPod touch 5G
- Still Camera Enabler – enable capturing still images while recording video on iPod touch 5G
- FaceDetectionVideo4S – enable face detection while shooting video on iPhone 4S
- Flashorama – enable the camera flash when shooting panorama photos
FaceDetectionDuringVideo doesn't come with any options to configure – just install it and use it.
Requirements: iPhone 4S, iPad 4, iPad Mini, or iPod touch 5G running iOS 6
