  • limera1n - new from geohot

geohot's next jailbreak tool will most likely be called limera1n. He's been showing proof of blackra1n working on iPhone OS 4.0, as well as a jailbroken iPad. Well, limera1n.com has now popped up with nothing on it but a limey version of the blackra1n icon.

Looks like geohot picked up limera1n.com March 27th, according to the whois. Checking the whois shows the registrant info to be the same for both blackra1n.com and limera1n.com, albeit with a different phone number.

edit: ok, ok, address removed due to excessive comments, although it's public info and I'm sure if there's anyone who is well aware that info is public and doesn't care if its shared, its George Hotz.

geohot has mentioned the latest approach he's working on would work on all devices (whether or not he decides to package that in the GUI is another matter of course) - and the release of a new name certainly lends the thought there's more than a simple update to blackrain. We'll ask for the full details next time we see geohot and see what he's willing to tell - an iPad/iPhone/iPod touch jb tool all wrapped up behind a shiny green icon would be nice.

EDIT: As far as the new name... geohot even mocks himself a little on that one. Viewing the source of the page at limera1n.com shows the following comment:
    thanks, shahpriyankd, for the tip
