  • Apple MacBook Pro With Retina Display Update to Fix Fan and Graphics Issues

Apple’s MacBook Pro with Retina Display is beautiful, but the added pixels have become a burden to some users who play graphically intense games. The latest MBPwRD update addresses this issue along with several other bugs.

“This update resolves a rare issue where users may experience slow frame rates when playing graphics-intensive games on the 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display. It also includes bug fixes for Power Nap, wake from sleep and fan control.” — Apple
Expect a flurry of complaints if Apple’s supposed fix fails to impress, as widespread complaints of fan speed spikes under low processor loads have filled Apple’s support forums. Gaming and graphics wise, the problem rests in the MBPwRD’s GPU bottleneck. However, until Apple ups the discrete graphics horsepower software optimization will have to suffice.

Also noted a few crazy fan issues when running two external monitors.

Wake from sleep gives me issues all the time. Hopefully it's all fixed now.

Will wait for a few iterations of this unit to iron out all the issues...my MBP 17" from 2008 is still ticking along no issues at all on Lion...

Wasnt the 2008 the first model for the unibody?
