  • Grip - Growl for iPhone

Already released in beta stages through their Google Code page, the guys at networkpx (creators of iKeyEx) are nearly ready to release Grip, a Growl look-alike for iPhone. If you don't know about Growl, you're probably not using a Mac. Growl provides system notifications (and tons of application notifications as well) in a sleek HUD themeable style.

From a translated blog post we see there's currently two notification methods:

    • Using a text pop-up box that appears in the screen must be to relate to, and decide what you want to do.
    • Use of voice messages by using Tziltzol (sic - looks like translator isn't perfect ) or vibration.

No definite word on release date - just "Soon we expect a very big surprise וטובה! "

Once they're ready to release you should see it on Cydia.

thanks to ares07 for the tip

what do i need to change in settings?

EDIT: Nevermind. does it notify of anything else such as Music changing?

It is on the project page. Once the final is released, it will be on cydia.

I just installed the new beta (first time trying grip) and it crashes when I try to ignore the notification (ie. i press the x) on my 3GS. I'm assuming it's a 3GS specific problem. Anyone else encountering it?

anyone know if there is a way to show notifications "expanded" by default? I actually prefer the stock apple notification for push apps like beejive, because with grip i have to click that little down arrow to see the text of each message that comes in.

changelog...sort off...has usual, on the devsīs blog:

      networkpx Project Blog

I actually prefer the stock apple notification for push apps like beejive, because with grip i have to click that little down arrow to see the text of each message that comes in.
problem is, only the last notification stays...imagine you got 10 IMīs, one AP news alert, 2 To-doīs from Toodledo, 2 twitter replies from IM+...it just takes on single push from, say, HEYWay (a location update from a friend), and youīll loose every single of the other messages

But i agree with you...it would be nice to have an option to quickly see all the text by default. I also suggested that on IM apps, all text from the same contacts appear on one single grip box...donīt know if that is possible at all...

Anyway, people should contact the dev with their bug reports/feature suggestions, instead of just talking about it here

Heīs on twitter by the way, @kennytm

Regarding problems with version o, yes, i am also having some SB crashes...i already reported them on GriPīs page
