  • Google Maps Updated to Version 1.1

Just yesterday, Google launched an update for their Google Chrome Web browser for iOS. Google has followed up Tuesday with an update for Google Maps, the popular navigation application that Google launched in December 2012. Tuesday's update is the first update to Google Maps since its launch.

The update to Google Maps adds the ability to search with your Google Contacts, allowing you to sign in and have your saved addresses show up when you search for people by name. This feature was highly requested by users, being that it was available in Apple's Maps application in iOS 6, and makes it easier to navigate based on the people you have saved addresses for.

The update also makes it easier to find local places, as you can now browse through specific categories including, but not limited to: restaurants, gas stations, and others. Users will also now be able to choose between two different popular units of measure – miles and kilometers.

Like Apple’s Maps application in iOS 6, Google Maps comes with turn-by-turn navigation. Since its initial release, Google Maps has held a solid 4.5-star rating in the App Store, and continues to earn its well-deserved reputation as a solid navigation application for iOS.

If you already have Google Maps installed, you will find the update to version 1.1 in the Updates tab in the App Store. Alternatively, you can download Google Maps version 1.1 from this link.

BrowserChanger should allow you to do this.... and, change Chrome to being your default browser.
