  • Evasi0n 1.5.1 Released - Updates Included Cydia Package List

The evad3rs have updated the evasi0n Web site with links to an updated version of the evasi0n jailbreak tool. The latest version of evasi0n is now version 1.5.1 – superseding version 1.5.

The update simply adds more Cydia packages to the included Cydia package list that gets installed with Cydia when a device is jailbroken with evasi0n. This pre-primed version of Cydia was implemented to reduce traffic on the repository servers when devices are jailbroken.

If you’re already jailbroken with evasi0n, there is no reason to re-jailbreak with the updated version evasi0n. The update to the tool is only meant for those who have not jailbroken yet. Those already jailbroken can already update their Cydia package lists by refreshing their sources in Cydia.

The evasi0n jailbreak tool can be used to jailbreak untethered any iOS 6.0, iOS 6.0.1, iOS 6.0.2, iOS 6.1, iOS 6.1.1, or iOS 6.1.2 device. The download links to the updated jailbreak tool are included for you below:

If you haven't jailbroken already, check out our guide on how to jailbreak with evasi0n.

I wonder why they felt the need to do this now that Cydia repos are doing fine.

Am I missing something? How do you "refresh your sources" in Cydia? Lol.

On the home tab hit reload and that will refresh it

My Cydia looks for updates and reloads every time I open the app. So I'm guessing there is a way to turn that feature off since you're having to manually update?

There wouldn't be an update to evasi0n in cydia for this. We just refresh our sources.

Uninstalling cydelete fixed this problem for me.

It's effectively just redirecting said bandwidth to another server. Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't this basically cost the jailbreak's creators more instead?

As for the other aspects of this(not bandwidth reduction), I think that this is a great idea! There are certain packages which every jailbroken user should have. Unfortunately many people who jailbreak don't know this. This helps them.

I just updated my sources in Terminal and it only downloaded 76 KB. I guess it depends on how much new stuff there is though.
