  • How to Fix That Annoying Screen Brightness Glitch When You Respring

You know whatís annoying sometimes? Ė When you respring your iOS device, the brightness always seems to go all the way down, and then it takes forever to re-correct itself after the device starts back up again. Sometimes it doesnít even re-correct itself; sometimes the glitch doesn't even happen at all. This annoyance makes it really hard to see your display after a respring, and sometimes you have to adjust your screen brightness manually just to see it.

The glitch occurs on iOS 6 when developers don't update jailbreak tweaks to respring by killing backboard instead of killing SpringBoard. On iOS 5, the method to respring was kill SpringBoard, while on iOS 6, developers should respring by killing backboard.

The bug becomes a real pain after a while, and I don't know about you, but I'm about fed up with it. For those of you that agree, you'll want to grab a new free jailbreak tweak that fixes this problem, and itís called BrightnessFix for iOS 6 by iOS developer Jonas Gessner.

After you install the tweak, the brightness may go down at the beginning of a respring, but by the time the device starts back up, the brightness returns to the level that it was at before initiating the respring. In other words, you've cured the annoying brightness glitch!

The idea of the jailbreak community generating home-brew fixes for iOS is wonderful; just recently, a tweak fixing a crashing issue for the Contacts application was released, and before that, a tweak fixing an issue causing lots of junk files to accumulate after each respring was released.

The tweak is available right now at no cost in the ModMyi repository of Cydia. Go and get it!

      Jailbreaking is about options.

Why press power button on and off to fix glitch when you could apply this tweak and it will instantly be fixed. Some of you are dumb -_-

I hate how it does that. I'm not jailbroken but it still happens to me and other people I know.

BTW, I really like how so many of you want to talk trash when someone is asking for help, yet, you offer no solution!

This is caused by programs that are still using the old 5.x respring method of killing springboard and not updated to kill backboardd. SBSettings respring absolutely will not do this because BigBoss has updated his tweak. For some reason IntelliscreenX respring method has not been updated yet among others. Hopefully all Devs will update their respring methods soon and this backlight dim issue will be a thing of the past.

This is how to fix the weather app

      1. Remove that tool you use to sync unsigned apps

      2. Reboot

      3. Open Cydia and go to Manage/Packages and at the top right near your status bar hit the "Simple" Button

      4. Scroll down to find UIKit Tools and Reinstall it

      5. when its done installing open iFile or an SSH or program like i-FunBox and delete these Files:

      var/mobile/Library/Caches/com.apple.mobile.installation.plist

      var/mobile/Library/Caches/com.apple.LaunchServices-045.csstore

      5. Reboot and Your Weather app should work

Clicking the on off switch will work to fix this for everyone -- but you'll wear out your switch and they're VERY hard to fix and costly. Get the tweak!

King also mentioned this in another thread. I'll bet the same respring cache broken thing is the cause for us losing all our battery stats too after almost every respring. Ya think?

      Nice tweak!

It has to do with some pirate repo site or pirated app that you may be using. If this is the case for you. They fixed the weather app crashes awhile ago. Except for what I mentioned earlier. Can't remember what it's called. Research back to when evasi0n came out.

Already answered above. Guess I shoulda read through first.

For some reason I cannot find this in the repository. Even after a hard reboot which usually works for me. Anyone else have issues?

EDIT: when will MMI ever fix the comment issue on this forum!? It's maddening sometimes! I now have my answer after multiple clicks to see the damn comments! This has been like this forever! Please fix MMI!
