Not really sure why Samsung thought this would pass. Samsung requested to a Japan court for iPhone sales to be banned in Japan. This all comes due to Samsung claiming that Apple stole its technology patents. Samsung had sought an injunction that would prevent the manufacture and sale of some of Apple's smartphones in a dispute over patent rights
The Tokyo District Court rejected the request, citing Samsung’s apparent failure to sincerely negotiate with Apple over licensing patents. The court also ruled that Samsung does not have the right to seek damages from Apple, which is really not surprising at all. They were really reaching hard for this one.
Samsung told Bloomberg that it is disappointed with the decision and that it will take further measures to protect its intellectual property. Apple did not comment the ruling, of course.
"After studying details of the court ruling we will take necessary measures to protect our property rights," -Samsung
In August, the Tokyo District Court rejected Apple's claim that Samsung stole its technology over synchronizing a smartphone's music data with that on a computer.
The two companies are waging the patent fight in about 10 countries, and in Japan there are about a dozen cases pending. Sounds like a cluster of craziness if you ask me.
