  • 'ActiveDock' Now Available for Download in Cydia

On Thursday we showed you an upcoming jailbreak tweak called ActiveDock by iOS developer Filippo Bigarella and graphic designer Surenix, which would make your iOS application dock look and behave more like the dock in OS X Mountain Lion, but you don't have to wait any longer because it's now available for download in Cydia.

ActiveDock actually changes the appearance of the dock in iOS to match the frosted glass appearance of the application dock in OS X Mountain Lion. In addition, the application icon reflections have also been changed to mimic that of the application dock in OS X Mountain Lion. Apart from mere appearance, ActiveDock does much more.

ActiveDock will actually display an OS X Mountain Lion-styled light bar under the applications on the dock that are open in the App Switcher. If you close an application from the App Switcher, the light-bar will go away. What’s more is applications will bounce when launched, similarly to how they do in Mac OS X. The bouncing animation also applies to when you receive notifications from one of the applications in your application dock. You can choose settings for how often the bouncing occurs.

ActiveDock is a neat little tweak for those of you that enjoy those simple little details of iOS customization that make using your device a pleasure to use. If you’re interested in grabbing ActiveDock, you will find it in the Bigboss repository for $1.99. In case you were wondering, it's compatible with all iPhones, iPod touches and iPads running iOS 6.

    Name: ActiveDock
    Price: $1.99
    Version: 1.0-1
    Requirements: iOS 6
    Repo: BigBoss
    Developer(s): Filippo Bigarella and Surenix

I already found one glitch, when I open up my messages app, it always highlights under the phone app as well.
How do I attach an image? Says I dont have permission

As we covered in our preview article, Phone and Mail will always stay highlighted because those apps are always running in the background.

Oh okay, well maybe in a future update make it so you can select apps that you don't want to light up? Just a thought

Bite still works. However, some of the functionality that supposed to be in active dock is not present with biteSMS.

For Instance: when a notification is received, As far as text messages go, the icon in the dock is supposed to bounce until it is addressed. That doesn't happen with biteSMS.

Aw man. A little upset I jumped on this so quick. It isn't compatible with folders and 3 of my dock icons are actually folders.

Yeah I'm loving the animation. May just pick up infinidock as a "fix" for the folders not jumping. Pull mail and messages out of their folder and move the extra folders to a new page on the dock.
