  • Dashboard for Maps Gets iOS 6 Support

iOS developer Evan Coleman has just pushed an update for his popular Dashboard for Maps jailbreak tweak so that it now supports iOS 6; the update includes a partial re-write. Dashboard for Maps adds some additional useful meters to the stock iOS Maps application.

The additional meters include a speedometer, compass, and altimeter; however, the user can also enable a "Distance Traveled" meter or simple speedometer instead of the stock options. The preference pane for Dashboard for Maps is shown below:

From the preferences, the user can enable and disable the tweak on demand. The user can also choose to hide the Dashboard while the Maps application is being used for turn-by-turn navigation, which may be preferred. This feature is iOS 6-only, since iOS 6 is the first iOS firmware to come stock with turn-by-turn navigation features.

The user will also be able to show or hide degrees, pick the meters that they want to use, choose the meter layout that they want, choose the transparency for the meters, and set their own custom units for the separate meters.

The developer informs us that another update is coming up that will add support for the popular Google Maps application that came out in the App Store after iOS 6 removed Google Maps as the default navigation system. Dashboard for Maps is $1.99 in the BigBoss repository, however those that already own Dashboard for Maps can download the update for free.
