  • Evasi0n 1.4 Released With Support for iOS 6.1.2

The evad3rs have released evasi0n version 1.4 Tuesday evening with support for iOS 6.1.2. The update is available for Mac OS X, Windows, and Linux and can be downloaded from the evasi0n Web site.

iOS 6.1.2 was released Tuesday afternoon to fix an Exchange calendar bug that quickly drains the iOS device's battery life. Fortunately, the update did not patch the popular evasion iOS 6 untethered jailbreak.

If youíre planning on updating to iOS 6.1.2 to fix any issues you might be having with Exchange, you can download the firmware through iTunes and perform a DFU mode restore to the iOS 6.1.2 firmware. You will not be able to update to iOS 6.1.2 OTA (over the air) if you are jailbroken, and we donít recommend OTA if you arenít jailbroken yet. You should follow this guide to get your device prepared for the jailbreak on iOS 6.1.2.

There shouldnít be any issues with jailbreak tweaks not being compatible with iOS 6.1.2, since itís pretty much the same firmware as iOS 6.1 with a few minor bug fixes. With that being said, update to your heartís content!

My ip5 battery on 6.1 is about 4.5 hours on screen usage time and that's a lot of use and still have about 7-8% left I guess I must be lucky, I don't use calendar sync though but I do always have wifi or 3G on which I switch when I go out.

There's a tweak by r,petrich that clears the cache at every respring. Works great!

Is it working all gd? I had read a few ppl having issues with it but that could be related to other tweaks i guess. Less tweaks is better IMO. I might check it out now tho.

      Thanks!

i'll update in the morning and see how it does, but if it don't get much better i'm done with the iPhone... come on this is the biggest most powerful most ram iPhone yet and the worst battery life out of them all.. I've had the 3,4,4s and 5 now.. the 4s on iOS 5 was the best i've had. If apple can't do any better than this no way will i buy the 5s or 6...

Is it normal that when I do a DFU restore I cannot bring my data back with iCloud as if I was doing a normal restore? Or am I doing something wrong?

Did the 6.1 and 6.1.1 update on my 4S both with the DFU method and I had to set as a brand new phone each time, I didnt care for 6.1 since I wanted to get rid of any bug-trash that could be leaking into the backup but if I ever go to 6.1.2 or the oncoming major update I just dont want to set it up all over again, I have enough with Cydia...

The jailbreak went smoothly. We'll see if the battery issue is fixed.

I don't plan to jailbreak Until the next big release.

We definitely need a system that will keep our settings the way they are via a jailbreak update.

How do you get all your JB tweeks etc back after you restore easily? Whats the most efficient way to upgrade ?

I've done both but I recently used the Basic backup when I updated my wife's ip4S to 6.1.1. It requires 2 reboots to fully implement everything.

I don't have any of those issues, I just couldn't and can't activate SBSettings when swiping on top of the screen(still not working)

Thnx. I installed it, does it clean all of the temp files from day one or just from the last respring?

I'm about to attempt upgrading from 6.1 to 6.1.2 using PKGbackup
      PKGBACKUP - User Guide

I'm backing up to both iCloud & manual local iTunes backup just in case.

I'll do the DFU restore/upgrade to 6.1.2, I'll then restore my standard apps/data via either iCloud or iTunes. I'll try iTunes, but last time I used iTunes to restore my data and apps, the icons were ALL over the place. (lost their location) iCloud restores seem to go smoother.

Once I'm happy things are looking normal, I'll jailbreak once again. I'll then use PKGbackup to restore my Cydia stuff.

PKGbackup seems to backup ALL my apps (even local Apple AppStore data) so as a worst case scenerio I guess I will only Jailbreak the Clean Vanilla restored iPhone 5. It backs it all up to my DropBox cloud too nicely. You can do a selective restore of what you want

To be honest I'm still a bit confused on what the best practice here is, I'll just give it a go and see what works. I have multiple backups all over and can try again as needed.
