  • Evasi0n 1.3 Released With Support for iOS 6.1.1 On iPhone 4S

Earlier today, Apple released iOS 6.1.1 for iPhone 4S to the public. The update deals with some issues regarding cellular networks on the iPhone 4S, and promised improved stability, performance, and reliability. The update surprised many of us considering that iOS 6.1.1 just went into its first beta with new features for the Maps application last Wednesday. Interestingly, the new Maps features are not included in today's update.

As iOS hacker planetbeing shared that iOS 6.1.1 for the iPhone 4S did not patch the evasi0n vulnerabilities, the updated evasi0n jailbreak tool has been delivered as promised. Evasi0n 1.3 has been released on the evasi0n Web site and is available for Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux.

Evasi0n 1.3 can jailbreak untethered iOS 6.0, iOS 6.0.1, iOS 6.0.2, iOS 6.1, and now iOS 6.1.1 on the iPhone 4S. The jailbreak runs as expected on the new firmware without any issues. Now that the tool is available to the public for iOS 6.1.1 for iPhone 4S, feel free to restore your iPhone 4S to iOS 6.1.1 through iTunes to re-jailbreak if you're experiencing any cellular issues.

If you're going to go through with the update, we recommend following these steps.

    If you're on a non-iPhone 4S device, there is no need to re-jailbreak with evasi0n 1.3.

I gotta stay in 5.1.1 as some of the updates are totally screwed in 6.1 so wanting to keep the current versions which are great.
      Mainly talking about LockInfo4.

Low RAM, freezes and crashes. My iPad 2 has mainly all the same tweaks as my phone but no issues.

It was more common with more tweaks but was still apparent when almost all the tweaks were removed. I had no issues before the update.

It's FUNNY how they came out with 6.1.1 after a jailbreak was made, lol..but i don't see any reason to Update.

Does it fix Safari+Background audio API? In 6.0*, I can leave Safari while something is playing, then use music controls to resume playback and listen to it.

In 6.1, this does not work.

I haven't noticed any signal issues since upgrading to 6.1 but I have noticed the battery appears to drain faster than when I was on 5.1.1. The main apps I reinstalled are LockInfo, Springtomize2, FolderEnhancer, PhotoAlbums+, Switchy and Zephyr. I recently added Auxo and Ayecon theme.

I now need to charge twice a day rather than one. Now that all of the main apps and tweaks are installed an not accessing Cydia as much, I can see if the battery will last longer.

Auxo has some known issues that the developers are updating. For me one of them was battery drain. For other people Auxo has created no battery drain. In location services/system services make sure you turn off everything in that window except traffic and compass calibration. The rest you will never need are known to be huge battery drains. And updating your system resets all of them to "on".

Whenever you update a software version the battery's low to high indicators sorta need to be reset. Let it run down to 1-2% ASAP.. Then give it a full charge. After that report back as to battery life. Before you do that step you can't do an accurate battery test.

I've never understood the fear of accidental OTA upgrading scare I hear here. It just won't work or ever steal someone's jail break. I've tested it several times on my phones and know the upgrade attempt will fail every time.
OTA upgrade prohibited downgrading of firmware. That is the "fear". Besides it is just a patch and not a full upgrade. Otherwise there isn't anything wrong with it.

How is that possible. OTA window always contains the most 'recent' possible iOS. How could it ever be a downgrade? (Honest question - no agenda - wanna be educated). I ask because I've tested this several times and OTA action - of ANY kind - fails mid process when you're jailbroken. Your current jailbreak is preserved after the attempt.

      TIA

On my iPhone 4- i updated the iOS using the DFU mode and then restore and chose the iOS that i had downloaded earlier and the funny part is, the weather icon shows 23 instead of 73 like it usually is lol. But the phone works just fine. My iPhone 4S is a different story. The battery seems to be going down a lot quicker compared to my iPad 2 where both have the same tweaks- strange.

How do I do that? Don't you mean I can do that on a Pc or mac. I need to do it on my iPhone. My lead is broken.

FYI- tried doing iTunes update of my iPhone 4S from jailbroken 6.1 to 6.1.1 today. Failed with some iTunes error- can't recall which. Had to do a clean DFU mode install of 6.1.1 and then full Restore from backup. Like watching paint dry...

Good news is that I have PKGBackup to hopefully get me back to where I was with 6.1 after days of work.
