Apple Losing 18 Year PR Veteran
Although Apple has been generating the most headlines in recent months for the talent it has procured, plucked, or poached from across the tech, science, and commerce sectors, today the Cupertino, California-based tech behemoth is preparing to bid farewell to a longtime member of its team.
Apple has confirmed in a written statement that Katie Cotton, who has been with Apple for close to two decades, is leaving her position as VP of worldwide corporate communications. Cotton retires following 18 years of service to a company that she has served faithfully and effectively, her colleagues say.
“Katie has given her all to this company for over 18 years,” Apple spokesman Steve Dowling said Wednesday. “She has wanted to spend time with her children for some time now. We are really going to miss her.”
Cotton, who is leaving Apple on good terms, tells Code/red that choosing to leave Apple was not an easy decision. “This is hard for me,” she is quoted. “Apple is a part of my heart and soul.”
Apple is yet to name a successor for Cotton, who is expected to leave the company in the near future.
